Interesting fact about Girl Gamers
We all know about Journal of Communication, a scientific journal published monthly, focusing on theories, systems, methods, algorithms and applications in communications. But this month’s article featuring what I use in title, a research about girl gamers (or female gamers to be exact).
They Scientists conducted a survey of 7,000 players who were logged on to a game called EverQuest II. The result of that survey is very interesting. First, supplying the fact that “old people play games”, the average age of the gamers surveyed was 31. That number will tend to increase, because the gamers hooked to the game won’t stop playing even with their certain increasing age.
The second one, being the sex differences. The female gamers actually logged more time online: an average of 29 hours a week, versus 25 for the males, with the top players putting in 57 hours a week on the girl’s side, and 51 for the guys. What’s more, it looks like women are more likely to lie about how much they really play. The researchers found that the gals tended to understate how long they spend glued to the screen. So maybe the average hours are above 35, who knows?
“So, never ask a women her age. Or how much time she spends defeating the dark elves to rebuild the world of Norrath.” —Karen Hopkin
